Each one of team members play an important role in keeping this well-oiled machine, not only running but churning out brilliant ideas and projects on the reg. In our ‘meet the team’ series, we give you a little more insight into the talented folk that make up our Smack Bang family.
My name is Elodie and my mum would say I’m very stubborn but I think that just a glass half empty way of looking at determination right? The first thing I do when I wake up is peeking through the curtains to see if I’ve missed the sunrise and choose the best outfit for my day ahead, and at the end of the day, I walk home if I’m in the mood. My favourite thing about my job is that I get to work with people who dream big. We meet with a lot of startups that are shaping our tomorrow, and it feels rewarding to be an active participant in the realisation of their vision.
What do you do at SBD? I’m the General Manager of Smack Bang Designs. I am responsible for the overall management of our team, finances, client projects, and studio initiatives. My role is to work closely with Tess (our Director) to ensure our overall effectiveness so that the business grows, whilst still maintaining our core essence & values. We constantly brainstorm ways to break new grounds in creative design, set industry benchmarks, and how we can push boundaries with the work environment we provide to our team.
If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing? This is the job I hadn’t even dreamt of – so would be very hard to beat it! There are always exciting things on, a client we’ve been dying to work with for months, a talented photographer to chat to in between shoots, a boss with the craziest ideas, a leftover doughnut when your sugar levels drop, and of course the best team to support me in my role.
You’re on a desert island and can only listen to one album for the rest of your days. Which one is it? London Grammar, If You Wait.
What’s your weekend ritual? Overspending in brunch, attempting to re-create Instagram worthy recipes I have saved on my phone, accomplishing the things I want to do, the places I want to visit, the weekends away I’ve been planning – and when needed: a weekend of nothing but long naps!
What’s the best choice you’ve made so far in life? Leaving home at 17. Moving countries and houses often, and travelling as often as I can.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? Teleportation, anything that saves travelling time!
Coffee order? Almond croissant.
If you weren’t living in Sydney, where would you choose and why? Anywhere along the Mediterranean. Slower living, paramount food, the best colour palettes, and a flight away to the world’s best capitals.
