Launching a consultancy when my daughter was four months old was based more on opportunity than a life long dream but it has been the best decision I have ever made. I spent a decade working in marketing, strategy, and PR for many incredible businesses, but after Sunny was born, my ‘why’ changed. I wanted to create a great life for her and for our family – I wanted more flexibility, but I still wanted to do great things for great brands.
So, KMC was born. I have worked with a bunch of kick ass brands across fashion, beauty, and lifestyle this past year and I love that each one brings a new challenge. My daughter is two next month and life is much crazier than I imagined but I have never felt happier or more successful. As a business owner and a mother, it’s rare to get 10 minutes to myself but I’m glad I found the time to share these 10 things that I’m loving right now – because they reminded me that even in the chaos, life is bloody beautiful.
MY HUSBAND There will never be enough words for the love and appreciation I have for my husband. Soppy, but true. He is the calm in my chaos. His strength never falters – even when we haven’t had a full night’s sleep in what feels like 14,578,390 years.
SEASON 7 OF SUITS Now that Game of Thrones has ended (tear), we’re onto the next series. We barely watch television but we do like to indulge in a good series and Suits has been on rotation for several years now.
BLUEBERRY PEELS AT THE CLINIC Every six weeks, the talented team at The Clinic layer my face with all kinds of goodness to make me look and feel like I’ve actually had 8 hours sleep sometime in the past two years. Fake it til you make it, I say.
VIBER/WHAT’S APP/SKYPE/FACETIME Pretty much all of my family and best friends live in New Zealand but thanks to technology, we’re able to share our little girl growing up with both sets of her grandparents as well as all of our friends – and keep up with their growing little groms too.
MY NEW RINGS FROM CLAIRE ARISTIDES When we got married, I chose not to get a wedding band because I loved the way my engagement ring looked on its own. A year later, I decided I did want one (because, diamonds), but not to wear on the same finger. Ironically, the decision coincided with my birthday so I ‘somehow’ ended up with two super fine bands.
SESSIONS WITH MY KINESIOLOGIST I have been seeing David Revitt for several years now. He has helped me to resolve many physical and emotional issues and anytime I’m feeling overwhelmed or a bit out of sorts, I can count on him to bring me back to feeling great.
I am old school and have pages and pages of handwritten notes and to do lists but this project management tool allows me to make sense of my messy mind and keep track of what’s coming up and what needs to be done.
KRISTIN FISHER EYEBROWS I don’t get to visit the dream team often enough anymore (because Kristin and Roxy are booked out for MONTHS in advance and I am always a last minute booker) but these girls changed my morning routine! I had my eyebrows feathered over a year ago and it is the best thing I have ever done. Now, I just get a touch-up wax and tint every now and then to keep them looking fresh.
CUDDLES WITH MY DAUGHTER It doesn’t matter how challenging the day has been, there is nothing better than my daughter asking for a ‘mama cuddle’. It brings me right back to where I need to be, every single time.
