- WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO?
Vera: It can really differ day to day but most days it is pretty similar to most other people – lots of emails, phone calls and meetings.
Katia: We are so lucky to have an amazing team who are just as passionate about the brand and what we do as we are so our days are filled with lots of brainstorming, workshopping and most importantly, lots of laughter!
- THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNT FROM BEING IN BUSINESS WITH YOUR BESTIE?
Vera: How important it is to have effective communication and that it is always best to address any issues as and when they come up – we have become really good at working through any differences, and trying to see things from each other’s point of view.
- YOU’VE BEEN BEST FRIENDS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL, WHAT’S THE EARLIEST MEMORY THAT YOU HAVE OF YOUR FRIENDSHIP?
Vera: I have a vivid memory of Katia and I in swim class in Year 8. She had just arrived at our school and we were paired together in swim class – it was a class on survival strokes and I was so terrible that I kept losing the kick-board as I jumped into the pool! So Katia took one for the team and did my laps for me – friends for life after that 🙂

- TELL US ABOUT YOUR DYNAMIC AND HOW YOU TWO MAKE IT WORK TOGETHER?
Katia: We understand each other really well and also have a very similar vision for the business which helps ensure a harmonious office. We bring fairly different skill sets to the business which works incredibly well, and we also love to bounce ideas off each other and to challenge the other so we are constantly also learning from each other which is great.
- BEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR SOMEONE LOOKING TO START A BIZ WITH THEIR BESTIE?
Katia: Understand how the other person deals with conflict – as besties and business partners, there are bound to be disagreements and conflicts from time to time so make sure you both know how the other deals with any bumps in the road so that you can work together effectively through those.
- THREE BUSINESS WOMEN WHO INSPIRE YOU?
Aimee Marks – founder of TOM Organic
Libby Babet – Founder of BUF Girls + AGOGA
- WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND THE NIMBLE BRAND?
We have been working really hard on developing our fabrics and incorporating new technologies and features as well as a move over to more sustainable fabrics – all of our best-seller LAUREN ⅞ tights are now made with a fabric that is 79% recycled PET (read: melted down plastic bottles!) so stay tuned for more advancements in this space! We are also really excited about our upcoming projects with Human Kind Project and i=Change to support the amazing work that both organisations do to make the world a better place for those less fortunate than ourselves.
