If you follow us on Instagram, it’s no secret how thrilled we were to work on the re-branding of iconic Sydney fragrance label, Palm Beach Collection. Together with photographer Sam Riles, we worked on the art direction for the shoot, including some lifestyle and product photos to really bring their new look to life.

One of our designers, Alix, was there on the day to help organise and art direct the shoot and bring the vision to life. Al takes a minute to run you through how the day flowed, scroll for more!

7am
The day starts and we are on the road to Palm Beach! A coffee fix was definitely the first priority on the way to our location and feeling very excited to spend the day in a beautiful home and shooting products we designed.

8.30am
We get to the house and it’s looking amazing! We spent the first 20 minutes exploring all of the nooks of the wonderful home and scoping out the best places to shoot.

9am
I’ve got all props and products out and the wonderful Sam Riles who was shooting the day arrived and we are ready to shoot! The day started with taking photos of the products around the home as if they were made to be there. Sam captured the beautiful morning light and made use of the soft shadows.

9.30am
Checked in to see how our model was tracking for her 10am arrival.

10am
Our model, Ella arrived and ready to go. The beautiful Ella was the perfect fit for the shoot – beachy, relaxed and coastal. Even though we were shooting product, we wanted to include a model in the shots to really bring the mood and product to life.

10.15am
We are ready to start shooting Ella. The vision from our mood boards was to create lifestyle shots with the products in situ. We shot these outside (amongst the greenery of the garden), in the bedroom alongside beautiful linen and in the bathroom to represent the freshness of the product.

12pm
Lunch time! We headed to Boat House, Whale Beach for a lunch break. The food was delicious.

1pm
Back to shooting the rest of the range. Ella had headed home and we were back shooting the product in the home, making the most of the location. We focused on flat-lays for a big chunk of time to get shots with lots of product in them showing the ranges of flavours. It was really coming to life and the Smack Bang vision for Palm Beach was being captured perfectly by Sam. These last few hours flew by so fast!

4pm
Home time! Time to head home for a big glass of wine after a successful day.
